Plant Trees with Us!
One of the most important local actions we can take to combat climate change and improve habitat is planting trees. Since our start in the year 2000, we’ve planted more than 41,620 trees in natural areas and Oakville greenspace with the help of volunteers like you!
Help us grow Oakville’s urban forest canopy and enhance natural diversity today! It’s a fun way to get outdoors for families and individuals of all ages. Our treeplanting events take place in spring and fall. Bring the family or come as a group and experience the pride in planting trees together to give our urban forest a boost!
When you plant trees you are:
- taking local action to combat climate change
- increasing our urban forest canopy
- protecting our watersheds
- improving local biodiversity
- connecting with nature!
Tips for a great treeplanting experience:
- Please be prompt – we’ll teach you how to plant trees at the beginning of the event.
- Fill out our Waiver and Registration Form in advance
- Come dressed for the weather and working in the dirt. We plant rain or shine! If it’s sunny, don’t forget sunscreen and a brimmed hat. Bug spray too!
- Wear sturdy shoes – no sandals or flip-flops! We will have gloves on hand, but bring your favourite pair (labelled) if you like.
- Bring water in a reusable bottle.
- Secondary students can earn volunteer hours at our events. Don’t forget your forms!
- Consider walking, cycling, carpooling, or taking the bus to our events.
