BEST FOR GRADES 9 - 12
Students will explore the structures, elements and functions of trees, and be inspired to come up with their own models and solutions that will incorporate sustainable designs and ideas. Students will be presented with some fascinating examples of how things such as tree fibers, tree regeneration, functions of roots and branches, or relationships in a forest canopy have led to inventing products and processes in various industries. Students will work to develop their own design or system.
The program incorporates STEM principles and offers an emphasizes on the ecosystem-friendly approach where Nature serves as a source for learning and inspiration rather than exploitation. Students build on their confidence to explore and invent by applying an interdisciplinary framework of learning and increasing environmental literacy.

CANADIAN REGISTERED CHARITY #848592010RR0001
As stewards of the earth, we have the responsibility to honour and respect the four directions, land, waters, plants, animals, and ancestors that walked before us, and all of the wonderful elements of creation that exist. Oakvillegreen respectfully acknowledges that our work with the community takes place within the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, represented by Treaty 14 and Treaty 22, and on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg (Ah-nish-in-nah-beg), Attawandaron (At-tah-wahn-da-ron), Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-oh-sho-nee) and Metis peoples. We honour these rightful caretakers of this sacred land surrounding the Great Lakes, and we are grateful for their teachings.
