Changes at Oakvillegreen Conservation Association

Posted on

With spring comes change, and that includes some organizational changes at Oakvillegreen Conservation Association (OCA).

After 4 1/2 years, Giuliana Casimirri is leaving her role as Executive Director at Oakvillegreen effective April 2019.  We have truly been lucky to have had funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation for an Executive Director (ED) for the past 4 years.  Giuliana has made major contributions to the organization during her time with us including engaging people’s interest in pollinator habitat, native plants and of course native trees. She implemented Oakville’s first Seedy Sunday this  spring, in collaboration with the Oakville Public Library. The board and I would like to thank Giuliana for all she has done for Oakvillegreen. I’m sure she will continue to be an effective champion for greener communities.

With the end of a major grant, and resulting funding gap, we are eliminating the ED role and realigning responsibilities within our remaining staff.

Going forward, our tree planting, rain garden and educational activities will continue.

Karen Brock will continue to lead the organization and can be reached at Karen will continue to lead advocacy programming, planning and strategic direction for OCA.

For the Ready for Rain program, including presentations, please contact Beatriz Gomez at

For the Tree Hero and school educational programming, or Corporate Greening treeplanting opportunities, please contact Anelia Tichkova at

Thanks to everyone for their ongoing support of OCA in our 19th year of operation making Oakville a greener and healthier community.
