Winter Sowing for Native Plants

March 4, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Winter Sowing for Native Plants: Free Workshop
Try an easy, inexpensive and fun way to grow lots of milkweed and other native perennials from seed. Planted in mini-greenhouses made from recycled household plastic containers placed outdoors, seeds germinate in the spring and are garden-ready by summer. Winter sowing works for seeds that require a period of cold stratification. Join Oakvillegreen Conservation Association and Greening Sacred Spaces who will help you get started growing your own native plants for pollinators.

Space is limited. Pre-registration is required via link.

Participants need to bring planting containers (translucent milk jugs, 1 litre clear plastic bottles, deep tupperware, or produce containers eg. lettuce/mushroom/strawberries), sharp scissors, a bucket or large bowl, and seeds. Common milkweed seeds and potting mix will be provided.
