CN EcoConnexions Tree Planting at Nautical Park

Posted on Updated on

Thank you to all our volunteers, and community partners for contributing to a great tree planting project at Nautical Park in Oakville. It was pleasure to work with the Oakville Community Foundation and the Town of Oakville and thanks to the generous support from the CN EcoConnexions’ From the Ground Up Program, Tree Canada’s Tree to our Nature, the Canada 150 Legacy Program and Communities in Bloom.

Nearly 300 volunteers helped to plant 1500 native trees and shrubs to enhance native biodiversity and restore this important woodland and migratory bird hot spot in Oakville!

A commemorative planting event on September 27th began with remarks from project funders and honourary guests. First Nation knowledge holder, Stephen Paquette spoke about  significance of this Traditional Territory, and the three commemorative trees planted.
